Keens are my go-to boots now as my feet have spread with age. The wide toe box is a perfect fit for me, and they’ve held up really well in tough conditions.

If you’re looking for an alternative, try Meindl Comfort Fit. They’re wide, built on an anatomically correct last, and of high quality, comparable to brands like Asolo and Scarpa. I switch to my Asolos for more technical hikes but love the comfort of my Meindls for general wear.
@Zeph
Meindl uses a curved last which doesn’t fit my straight feet at all. How can a curved last be anatomically correct for everyone?

The Meindl Comfort Fit line mimics natural foot shapes with a wide toe box and minimal taper, much like Altra or barefoot shoes. I can send you photos of the boots and insoles if you want to see the shape for yourself.
@Zeph
Could you share those photos in a post? I think a lot of us would benefit from seeing that.

I might put together a review on the Meindl Comfort Fit Hikers soon. If you need more immediate info, feel free to PM me.
@Zeph
Thanks, but I think I’ll stick with my Keens. I checked the Comfort Fit line, and only one model seemed to have a straighter last that might work for me.
They’ve lasted much longer than any of the Keens I’ve owned.

That’s lucky! Keen boots usually don’t last this long. Seems like a good value for the price.

It’s hit or miss with Keen. I’ve seen them last forever or fall apart quickly. Sadly, all the ones my husband has tried deteriorated fast.

Agreed. My first pair of Keens fell apart just days into a hiking trip. Never bought another pair after that.
I use Salomon x4 daily for concrete walking. The soles are worn thin, but the uppers are still like new.
Would you recommend them?

Definitely! I use mine for weekend hikes and backpacking trips on the East Coast. They’ve held up for over three years.

That’s impressive for weekend use over three years! Have you had to make any repairs like re-gluing the soles?
@Merrick
One shoe did start to come unglued recently. I’m taking them to a local shoe repair shop to extend their life.

Absolutely, though they could use stronger glue on the soles. Other than that, they’re great value for the price.

I get about a year’s wear out of mine, and for the price, that’s okay. Just a heads up, replace the insoles right away; they’re not great.
Mine usually look worn out by 6-8 months, but they’re affordable enough on sale to keep replacing.
