I am new to hiking and need a lightweight, insulated and durable hiking mat that is relatively affordable. What would you recommend?

It differs so much from person to person, best take is to go to a store that offers you to try some.

‘hiking mat’ is not a common term/product in the USA.

Assuming this is a sleeping pad - what low temperatures do you plan to sleep in? Tell us if it’s in Fahrenheit or Celsius.

You probably should provide some info about general area where you live and what’s your budget. Also make yourself familiar with terminology. Do you mean the mat or pad?
