Hey everyone, Just started getting into hiking and camping and realized I have almost no gear! I’ve been browsing on Wish and saw some pretty cheap options. I’m not looking for anything specific right now, just curious what y’all have bought that’s actually worth it. Any hidden gems or should I avoid altogether? Cheers…
I picked up a foldable camping chair from Wish for like $15, and it’s held up pretty well btw. I wouldn’t trust it for a long weekend hike, but for backyard or car camping, it’s a steal. Don’t expect top-notch quality though.
Eh, I tried buying a waterproof backpack from Wish once. Let’s just say it didn’t survive its first encounter with actual rain. My advice? Stick with smaller, non-essential stuff like utensils or random gadgets.
I got a headlamp from there, batteries drain kinda fast, but for the occasional night hike, it’s good enough. If you’re starting out, it’s probably okay for things like that.
Headlamps, that’s definitely something I need. Did you grab extra batteries with it or just roll the dice on what they sent?
Definitely roll the dice. But honestly, you can grab a pack of batteries anywhere. Just don’t expect them to send top-tier batteries in the box.
Honestly, man, I’d say skip the gear from places like Wish or AliExpress and hit up Walmart or Target. At least if something breaks, you can return it. Wish stuff is pretty hit or miss (more miss, tbh), and you might end up replacing it sooner than you think.
I’ve been using a knockoff water filter I got off Wish, and it works well enough, but I don’t fully trust it for multi-day hikes. Probably best to use stuff like that only when you’re car camping and have other backups.
I mean, I’ve been there—bought a sleeping pad that was half the price of name brands, and my back paid the price after one night. Lesson learned: sometimes spending more saves your body. But if you’re just doing casual camping, maybe it’ll work for you.
Water filter… now that’s something I wouldn’t think to trust from Wish.
Not everything’s a disaster from Wish, though. Got a pocket knife that’s been with me on several hikes now. It’s not gonna slice through anything heavy-duty, but it’s light and cheap. Great if you lose it and don’t want to cry over it.
I’m not trusting Wish to hold up my 200-pound self. But for little stuff like utensils, lights, or ropes, it’s worth the risk if you’re not going into hardcore survival mode.
