Trouble Fitting New Hiking Pole Tip – Any Ideas?

Hey y’all, I just bought a pair of Black Diamond Flex Tech Tips because the tip on one of my Trail Ergo Cork poles went MIA during a hike. Tried popping on the new one, but no luck so far—can’t seem to get it to fit right. Any tricks to this, or am I just doing something wrong?

Try soaking the pole end in some warm water for a few minutes. It loosens up the material a bit and makes it easier to slide the tip on.

Good idea. I’ll give the warm water trick a shot and see if that helps. Thanks.

The tips can be a tight fit especially when they’re new. You could use a rubber mallet to tap it on (gently, of course). If you’ve got one handy it might do the trick. Just be careful not to go too hard on it.

Honestly, I had so many issues with replacement tips that I just started using trekking poles with built-in tips.

Hey @QuantumSeeker, you may want to check if you’ve got the right size. Sometimes the tips come in slightly different diameters, and it’s easy to pick the wrong one, even if it looks right at first glance.

I think I got the right one, but you never know. Appreciate the heads-up.

When I couldn’t get a tip on, it turned out my pole had gotten a bit bent at the end, and I didn’t realize. Gave it a quick file down, and it went on fine after that.
