Toe pain in hiking shoes

I picked up some Keen Targhee boots for a camping trip. They seemed perfect at first, but now I’m getting this weird rubbing on my big toe after a few hikes. It’s only on my left foot, though. The right foot is completely fine. Anyone else deal with this? Did I just get the wrong size, or is it a breaking-in thing?

Oh yeah, It’s the break-in period for sure. Give it time…

Maybe try thicker socks? That helped me when I had a similar issue with Merrells

I’d say wrong size. I bought shoes that fit like my sneakers, big mistake. Go a half size up.

Sounds like an arch issue? Have you tried insoles yet?

Ugh, yes… My Salomons did that for weeks. Try a blister patch to survive

Could be the shape. I have wide feet, and normal boots hate me, lol

@CliffsideVoyager , so the break-in thing could still be a factor? How long did it take you before they stopped causing issues?

Took about a month of hiking 2-3 times a week. Feet were sore, but now they’re like slippers.

I’ll give thicker socks a try this weekend @EmberGlider. Any brand recommendations? I’ve only got thin cotton ones right now.

Oh man, get wool socks. I like Darn Tough. You never going back to cotton trust me.

Yeah, better wool socks. Cotton equals blister hell.

Yup, wool all the way. My feet are basically walking clouds in them trust me.

Anyone else feel like no boots fit right anymore? I swear, all new boots mess up my feet at first.

Dude, preach… feels like they’re making boots for aliens these days.

They should just make boots for ‘normal people’ with ‘regular’ feet :joy:"

Exactly… I don’t have hobbit feet but also not model-skinny feet, either. Give me something in between, sheesh.

LOL, right? I want a boot that hugs my feet, not crushes them or floats around.

Maybe we need to start a ‘real feet’ boot line, haha
