Hey all, has anyone tried the Smartwool sports bras? Looking for something that’ll keep me cool and comfy while hiking, and I’m curious about their merino wool ones. Any experiences with them or other merino wool options for hiking tops? I need something that’s good with temperature control…
I’ve used Smartwool stuff before, but not the bras, their shirts are great for hiking. I imagine the bras would be similar. You should give it a shot.
Yeah, I’ve tried Smartwool bras, they’re pretty solid, but I actually prefer Icebreaker’s merino wool bras. They just feel softer and a bit more durable to me. Both brands are good, but Icebreaker has held up better on longer hikes.
Thanks… I’ve heard of Icebreaker, but never tried their bras. Do they feel less itchy than Smartwool? I get a bit of sensitivity with wool sometimes.
Yeah, Icebreaker feels smoother to me, especially over time after a few washes. I haven’t had any issues with itchiness like I sometimes do with Smartwool. Worth trying for sure.
I’ve got one of the Branwyn merino bras, and honestly, it’s my favorite. It’s super comfortable and doesn’t get all gross when I’m hiking in hot weather.
Another vote for Icebreaker here. I love how light they feel. I’ve tried a few different brands, and they just seem to balance support and breathability better than Smartwool or others I’ve tried. Plus, they don’t stretch out as quickly.
Do you think they work well for high-intensity hikes? I sometimes do multi-day trips with steep terrain, so I need something that won’t wear out fast.
Yeah totally, I’ve taken mine on some pretty tough trails, and they still feel like new. I think they handle heavy use well, especially compared to some of the cheaper stuff out there.
