Okay folks, what’s the deal with waterproofing? Grangers or Nik Wax? Spray-on or wash-in—what’s your go-to? Does one last longer than the other?
I use Grangers spray, easier for me. Wash-ins make my clothes feel weird lol.
Nik Wax wash-in all the way. Feels like it penetrates better. Spray-on feels lazy, no offense
Tried both… spray wins for convenience. Wash-in? Meh, too much hassle for my lazy self.
Grangers spray for me too. Got rained on for 6 hours straight, stayed bone dry. Can’t argue with that.
Nik Wax for me. The wash-in saved my jacket last season. Plus, my arms don’t get tired spraying.
Why not both? I start with wash-in, then top it off with spray for extra coverage. Belt AND suspenders, baby.
@InfiniteEcho Haha, overachiever alert! Maybe I’ll try both… double the fun?
Whoa, both? That sounds like way too much work for waterproofing. I’ll stick to one, thanks
Yeah, same here. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Wash-in, one and done.
Both? That’s hardcore. Do you also double-layer your socks? @InfiniteEcho
Not socks, but I did once wear two hats in a snowstorm. My head was extra warm, just sayin’
Grangers is my go-to, but I do wonder if I’m just lazy… y’all make Nik Wax sound fancy.
Haha, it does sound fancy, right? I’m imagining a posh British guy applying Nik Wax, sipping tea.
Nik Wax wash-in just makes me feel like it’s more thorough.
Funny how we’re debating water resistance like it’s a life or death situation… but wet socks ruin hikes, right?
Wet socks are the worst. Lost my favorite pair last spring… still hurts to think about it
Dude, I once hiked with soggy socks for 7 miles. Thought I was gonna lose a toe.
Rookie mistake. Always bring a spare pair. Or two. Or, you know, double up on socks like you double up on treatments?
