Hey folks. Quick question—anyone else’s headlamp lose battery without even using it? I charged my Black Diamond Spotlite (older model, 160 lumens) but didn’t touch it for two weeks, and now it’s dead. Normal or just old tech? Thoughts?
Yep, that’s totally normal. My Petzl does the same thing. I think they lose a little charge just sitting. Annoying, but unless it’s draining crazy fast, probably not a big deal.
That’s weird. I’ve had my Nitecore NU25 for a year and it holds charge for months. Maybe it’s the battery age? You could try swapping it out.
@DawnStrider Didn’t even think about swapping the battery. I just assumed it was something in the tech…maybe it’s just old-school design compared to newer models like your Nitecore.
Happens to mine all the time too. Just take the battery out between hikes. No battery, no drain. But sounds like it’s just aging.
Mine did that before I realized I left it on in my bag for days But seriously, could be just an old battery. Time for an upgrade, maybe?
Black Diamond batteries are hit-or-miss with holding charge. I’ve had similar issues. Maybe look into rechargeable AAAs? They can be more reliable long-term, older models always seem to drain faster.
I’ve never had that issue with my Energizer headlamp. Maybe your headlamp’s just cursed, lol. In all seriousness, if it’s an older model, could be time to move on.
Oh man, leaving it on in your bag is classic. I’m pretty sure mine was off this time, but now I’m paranoid I missed something. Maybe it’s time to bite the bullet and upgrade.
Haha, cursed headlamp. But seriously, newer ones are so much better. I was skeptical at first but man, the battery life on the latest models? Game-changer.
I’m with you, my newer Petzl blows my old gear out of the water. Plus, they’re way lighter now.
I’m with the upgrade crew. Newer headlamps have crazy battery life and better brightness too. Makes night hiking feel like daytime.
Okey, thanks guys, time for uprade I guess.
