La Sportiva TX3 sizing advice?

Hi everyone!

I’ve owned two pairs of La Sportiva trail runners (Jackal II and Prodigio) and loved them. I’m considering the TX3 approach shoe as a technical hiking shoe. My questions are:

a) Is the TX3 a good option for technical hiking?
b) Does the sizing match their other shoes?

Thanks for any input!

I got my TX3s in the same size as my Prodigios and Bushidos. A half size smaller also fit well, but I wanted a normal hiking shoe fit instead of a tighter climbing shoe feel.

Thanks! Are they good for long hikes? I love how comfy trail runners are for day hikes, but my partner and I did a thru-hike in the Julian Alps, and we’re planning more like that. I feel like I need a dedicated shoe for that kind of terrain.

The longest I’ve done in them so far was Longs Peak in Colorado, around 15 miles. My feet felt great at the end of the day. I used my custom insoles because my arches are bad. They don’t feel like trail runners—they’re stiffer—but they still had enough cushion.

Got it. Thanks for the detailed input!

No problem, happy to help!

The TX3s are more consistent in sizing compared to other La Sportiva models. I have narrow feet and low arches. My usual running shoe size (42.5) fit fine in the TX3s, but I needed 43.5 for the Bushido II and Ultra Raptor II. Adding a more cushioned insole can help for longer hikes. The included Ortholite is okay for a few outings.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

La Sportiva approach shoes tend to be very narrow. It’s best to try them in person if you can.

I’ve noticed that with their trail shoes too, but unfortunately, I don’t have access to stores where I can try them on.
