Is “Water-Resistant” a Real Thing with these Shoes?

Hey everyone. I’ve been hiking around in my Keen shoes, and they claim to be water-resistant, but every time I hit a trail in the morning, my feet end up totally soaked from the wet grass. How is that even possible? Do they just slap “water-resistant” on everything these days?

I think “water-resistant” means they can handle a drizzle but anything more, like constant exposure to wet grass, and you’re toast.

They do fine in light rain, but like you said, walking through dewy grass? Not happening. Maybe it’s time for a spray-on waterproofing treatment.

Ugh, I was afraid it was just a label thing.

It’s all about the lining, man. Water-resistant doesn’t mean waterproof, so if there’s no solid seal, your feet are gonna get soaked eventually.

You could try gaiters if you don’t want to give up on those Keens.

Are you sure it’s not the way they fit? Sometimes if they’re too loose, water sneaks in from the top, no matter how “water-resistant” they are.

Not sure if you’ve tried this, but I’d recommend waterproof socks instead of relying on the shoes alone. Could be a cheaper fix if you don’t want to buy new ones just yet.
