How Do Y'all Handle Blisters on Long Hikes?

Hey everyone, I recently did a 10-mile hike in the Rockies, and by mile 7, my feet were a blistered mess… I was wearing some new boots, which I now realize was a big mistake. Does anyone have any tried-and-true tips for preventing and treating blisters? I’m planning a longer trip next month and want to avoid this nightmare again. Thanks in advance…

I used to get blisters all the time until an old-timer I met on a trail suggested duct tape. Sounds weird, but slap some on the hot spots as soon as you feel them starting, and it really helps. Just make sure the area is dry first. Saved my feet more than once.

Moleskin Is a Lifesaver… I swear by moleskin. Cut it to fit around the blister or where you feel one forming, and it’ll protect the area. I carry a little roll with me on every hike. It’s cheap and easy to find at any drugstore. Also, maybe break in those boots around the house before your next hike?

Change Those Socks, Dude. I had the same problem when I started doing longer hikes. One thing that made a difference was switching out my socks halfway through. I carry an extra pair in my pack now. Dry socks = happy feet. Oh, and make sure they’re moisture-wicking…

Compeed blister patches are cool. They act like a second skin and stay put even when your feet get sweaty. They’re a bit pricey, but totally worth it if you’re prone to blisters. Just my two cents…

Have you tried toe socks? They separate your toes and stop them from rubbing against each other, which is a big cause of blisters for me.

I’ve had mixed results with blisters and was wondering if anyone else has tried sock liners? They’re supposed to reduce friction, but I’m not sure if they’re worth it. Thoughts?
