Best gear for swampy terrain?

Alright, I’ve got most of my gear sorted and it’s arriving soon, but I’m stumped on what pants and shoes to get for hiking through swampy, muddy areas. Any recommendations?

Go with them waterproof boots those that got good ankle support. That will keep your feet dry and stable. Pants-wise, go for something quick-drying like nylon. You’ll thank me later.

I’d say go with trail runners instead of boots, especially if you want something lighter. For pants, maybe think about getting some with reinforced knees. Lots of brush in swampy areas that can tear up cheaper materials.

I’d just get some basic gaiters and mesh shoes. It’ll suck getting wet no matter what, but at least they’ll dry out fast. As for pants, anything with good stretch is key so you don’t feel restricted.

Yeah, I’ve been actually leaning toward the lightweight, breathable route. I honestly don’t want to deal with super heavy boots. Nah nah…

I like those tactical pants with extra pockets. They are good for swampy hikes since you can stash small tools, and they’re pretty tough. I prefer waterproof shoes, but it really depends on how much mud you’ll be dealing with.

I agree man, I used to wear boots but I switched to trail runners. I’d rather dry quickly than slog in wet boots.

I’d suggest heavy-duty boots if you’re hiking for long stretches. For pants, anything with ripstop material, especially in thorny areas, will save you from tears and scratches.

I’ve never heard of ripstop pants. Definitely going to check those out, sounds solid.
