Anyone tried the North Face combo sleeping bag?

Hey y’all, I’m looking at the North Face combo sleeping bag with synthetic and down insulation, and I’m curious if it’s worth the hype? Anyone used it before? I usually camp in Utah, so weather is kinda all over the place. Thoughts?

Yeah, I used it last fall in Montana it was awesome. I loved it. The hybrid insulation kept me warm even when things got a little damp. It’s a bit on the pricy side though.

I’ve had the opposite experience. The down part of mine got clumpy when I was in Oregon. If you’re expecting rain, I’d go full synthetic.

Dang, really? That’s kinda what I was worried about. How wet did it get? I was thinking maybe a liner would help if things got really wet?

I’m a sweaty sleeper, and this bag was NOT breathable enough for me. I’d recommend the patagonia 19 degrees sleeping bag.

The bag’s weight-to-warmth ratio is decent, but it’s a little bulky for ultralight backpacking. I didn’t like it, I switched to a quilt setup for my hikes on the Appalachian Trail—saved so much weight and still stayed warm.

I’d honestly go with the hybrid bag for desert camping. The cold nights can hit hard man, and you’ll need that insulation. Quilts are nice, but you might feel the chill without full coverage.

I’ve honestly thought about the quilts, but I’m worried they won’t be warm enough if I’m out during colder nights in the desert. Have you used them in below-freezing temps?
