Hey, can someone break it down for me real simple… Why can’t I just wear my regular running shoes when I hit the trails? I mean, they’re comfy and I’ve been running in them forever.

Yeah, and your ankles!. You get way more support from proper hiking shoes. Those trails can be brutal on your feet.
Not to mention, street shoes don’t protect your toes. I once stubbed my foot on a rock while wearing sneakers… still feeling it weeks later.

Yeah, they totally do because the hiking boots or trail runners are designed to handle moisture better. Your street shoes will soak through real quick if you hit mud or puddles.
I think it depends on where you’re hiking, your regular trainers might be fine for easy, flat trails, but anything rocky or steep and you’re gonna want something sturdier.
Also, fashion trainers are made for looks, not durability. After a couple of hikes, they’ll start to break down, especially if you’re on rough terrain.
