Thoughts on Nemo Sleeping Bags?

Hey y’all, Nemo has a sale on their sleeping bags, but can’t find much feedback on them. I noticed they’re a bit heavier but seem tough. Anyone used them? Also, they don’t have that water-resistant down… Thoughts?

I’ve used a Nemo bag once! It’s heavier but comfy. Not having hydrophobic down kinda sucks in damp areas though. If weight isn’t an issue, i’d give a green light, go for it.

Had mine for 3 years. Not having water-resistant down was really a pain in a wet Michigan fall though. Durable but… wet feet aren’t fun.

I’m all about the weight savings. If it’s heavy, I’m out. Durability’s nice, but if you’re lugging it on a multi-day trip, your back will hate you. Hydrophobic down is a MUST for me.

Haha, fair point! I’m debating if I’d actually feel the weight difference though… I’m not super hardcore about keeping it ultra-light, but yeah, the water thing is making me hesitate.

I’ve got a Nemo bag and I’m not in love with it. It’s warm, but as others said, gets soggy fast. The zipper also got stuck a bunch on my last trip. Frustrating when it’s 30°F out.

If you hike in dry climates, you might not even care about the down thing. I love mine for desert camping, but it does get a bit swampy in humid spots. Great for warm, dry places.

Nemo bags are great but yeah, heavier. Have you checked out Big Agnes? Lighter, and most have the hydrophobic down you want. But, if durability is key, you might stick with Nemo.

I’ve heard of Big Agnes but haven’t tried their stuff. Lighter sounds tempting… Do they hold up well over time?

Yup! Mine’s lasted years. Lighter and still pretty tough. Zippers never jam, unlike Nemo. If you don’t mind spending a bit more, worth considering.

Oh man, zipper drama is the WORST. I had a bag once that ate its zipper alive during a rainy night in the Smokies. Almost threw the whole thing off a cliff.

Haha, I feel that! It’s like the sleeping bag knows you’re freezing and just wants to add insult to injury. Maybe we should all just switch to quilts and ditch zippers altogether.

Totally agree! Quilts, baby! No zippers, no problem!
