Should My Skyline Flex Shell Be Fitted or Roomy?

Hey folks, I’ve been trying to figure out the right fit for my Skyline Flex Shell jacket. I’m kinda between a small and a medium. Do you think it’s better to go snug or a little looser? Not sure what would be best for layering and movement. Appreciate any thoughts

I’d go for snug if you’re mostly doing intense hikes where you want to stay aerodynamic. The Skyline Shell is pretty good at stretching, so you should still be able to layer a light fleece under the small.

Honestly, I prefer a looser fit for shells. You never know how many layers you might need underneath if the weather gets wild. I’d say go medium—it gives you more flexibility.

Yeah, that’s kinda what I was thinking. I usually layer a thicker hoodie or fleece when I’m out. But I also don’t want to feel like I’m swimming in it. Does the shell look bulky if it’s too big?

Nah, it doesn’t look bulky even if you size up. I have the medium, and I’m between sizes too. It’s actually designed to move with you, so I’d say medium is a safer bet if you like to layer.

I’d definitely say medium if you’re planning to wear it in winter. I tried on both sizes, and the small felt a bit restrictive with anything heavier underneath.

You can always use a belt or adjust the drawcord to tighten up the medium if you need to. Plus, roomier jackets allow for more airflow, which is great for warmer hikes too.

Do you think it would flap around too much in windy conditions if it’s looser?

Not really, as long as you tighten the hem and cuffs.

IMO, go snug. It’s gonna stretch anyway after some wear, so starting with a more fitted size can make sure it doesn’t feel too big later on.
