I’m in search of boots that look casual enough for city wear but are insulated well enough to keep me warm in temperatures just below freezing. Any recommendations?
Although not technically hiking boots, insulated Gore-Tex Chuck Taylors have been my go-to for cold, casual footwear. They’re surprisingly warm and comfortable for non-boot shoes.
Consider boots with smooth leather that can be polished for a more dressed-up look. Danner Acadia might be a good investment — expensive but durable.
What do you consider casual? Hiking shoes aren’t typically dressy, but some styles blend in better in urban settings.

It really depends on the city’s style standards.

I find classic Timberland boots casual, though I’ve had some issues with them in the past.
@Olin
If you like Timberland’s style, maybe check out Danner. They have a similar aesthetic but are generally higher quality.

I’d also recommend Kodiak boots. They’re good for trails and stylish enough for urban environments like Seattle.
Take a look at Hanwag Grunten Winter and Lowa Wendelstein Winter models.

Thanks! Are they waterproof? Also, would they be suitable for bushcraft activities?

Both models are water-resistant and suitable for bushcraft. For more intense hiking, consider the Lowa Tibet Warm which has a waterproof membrane.

I already own Meindl Litepeak Pro Gtx. Do you think they could work with warm socks in temperatures around 0°C to -10°C?

That might work for brief city outings, but for prolonged exposure, I’d recommend a dedicated cold weather boot like the Meindl Solden or Kitzbühel for better insulation.
