Hi everyone! I’m headed to Alaska in July and it’s time to upgrade from my 12-year-old Merrell hiking boots. Ladies, what are your go-to hiking boots? I’m looking for something lightweight and waterproof. I’ll be doing some glacier hiking and a lot of walking. Not a novice, but not an expert climber either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I visited Alaska in July a few years back—what an amazing experience! I’ve used Merrells before and they were great. Recently, I switched to La Sportiva, which are also excellent, though they might be a bit warm in July. Also, consider bringing a good pair of walking/running shoes for when hiking boots aren’t necessary. Have a fantastic trip!

Thank you! I’m really looking forward to it.
Which parts of Alaska will you be visiting? The terrain can vary quite a bit from one area to another.

I’ll be traveling from Anchorage to Kenai/Seward, then on to Talkeetna, and finally Denali.

For those areas, your current boots should suffice for July hiking—there’s nothing particularly unique about the conditions that would require specialized footwear.
