Seeking Advice on Salomon Quest 4 Boots Pressure Spot

I recently bought a pair of Salomon Quest 4 boots, which I generally like, but I’m encountering an issue with a weird pressure spot on my right heel. It feels like there’s a ridge causing a bruising pain, though I can’t identify it by feeling inside the boot. I’ve found that looser lacing somewhat alleviates the problem, but it doesn’t eliminate it. I’m preparing for a 20-mile hike in a few months and would prefer to use these boots without discomfort. Has anyone experienced this, and how did you resolve it?

Is this under your heel, or on the side? Can you specify the exact spot?

It’s at the back of the heel, right where the sole meets the vertical part of the boot, just below the Achilles tendon.

It might be the edge of the insole causing the discomfort. Have you tried using different insoles to see if there’s a difference?

I haven’t felt a difference yet. I’m considering trying a new insole insert to see if that helps.

Check under the insoles for any irregularities like rough spots or bumps. Ensure the insoles and stitches at the heel are smooth and secure. If everything checks out but the boots still don’t feel right, it might be a compatibility issue with your foot shape. Also, be cautious as I’ve experienced durability issues with this model in the past.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into Asolo boots as a potential alternative.

Glad to help! Let me know if you need further assistance.

If you can’t resolve the issue, consider returning them or use preventative taping such as leuko tape.

There might be a rough seam hidden under padding layers. It’s usually hard to detect without pressing hard.
