Osprey Talon 22 Size Help?

Hey folks, I’m stuck trying to figure out the right size for the Osprey Talon 22. My torso measures about 45cm (around 18 inches), which puts me in that tricky S/M or M/L zone. Any of you with similar measurements care to share what size you went with? Thanks.

I’m actually a bit taller, with a torso size of 50cm, and I chose a large. It felt a bit roomy at first, but after adjusting everything, it works great for my hikes. So if you’re worried about extra space, a large could work too.

My torso is about the same, I got a medium, fits perfectly, and I’ve had no issues with comfort on long hikes. Definitely check the adjustment straps, though.

Thanks… I’m leaning toward a medium, but I worry it might feel tight. Did you guys have any issues with movement or anything?

Not really, the Talon is super adjustable, so you should be fine with a medium. Just make sure you load it up a bit and try it on before hitting the trails.

I actually went the other way, my torso is about 46cm, and I grabbed a large. It feels more spacious, and I can stuff it with snacks :joy: It’s really up to your preference—tight fit or extra room for those hiking snacks.

What do you guys think about the weight distribution? I’m worried about it tipping over if I don’t pack it right.

Weight distribution is solid, honestly. Just pack heavier items closer to your back, and it’ll be all good. I also got some packing cubes to keep things organized. They help a ton with keeping everything balanced.

It also has a waist belt for weight distribution, so you don’t got to worry.

Totally agree. I used to have issues with tipping until I figured that out. Those packing cubes make a difference—plus, it’s easier to find my trail mix when it’s organized.

Thanks, everyone. I’ll definitely check out those packing cubes. Any other essentials I should consider adding to the mix?

A hydration reservoir is a must-have. Keeps you hands-free. Also, a lightweight rain cover can be a lifesaver if the weather turns.

Don’t forget about trekking poles. They really saved my knees on some steep descents. Btw you can strap them to the Talon when you’re not using them.

Awesome suggestions. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks again guys.
