Opinions on Leki Poles

Anyone here have thoughts on Leki trekking poles? I like that they’re super light and easy to pack, but the whole flick-lock thing gets a little tedious after a while, you know? Not a big deal, but replacing the wrist straps is a real headache. Is that normal, or am I just missing something here?

I’ve got a pair of Leki poles, and yeah, the flick-lock gets annoying if you’re adjusting them a lot. I haven’t had any issues with the straps though—did you try reaching out to their customer service?

Oh man, I used to have Lekis, trust me I loved them at first, but I swapped to Black Diamond poles because I just couldn’t handle the flick-lock anymore.

I swapped to Black Diamond poles btw, you should check them out as well. Their flip-lock system feels way smoother to me.

How does the weight compare? I don’t want to sacrifice the lightness, you know?

Yeah, the Black Diamonds are pretty close in weight, but maybe just a smidge heavier. I barely noticed it though, especially with the better lock system.

I actually prefer twist-locks over flick-locks, as for the straps, I had to replace mine. I just rigged mine up with some paracord and I got to customize the color as well.

Wait, wait, you guys actually replace the straps? I just gave up and cut mine off when they wore out, haha. Never really used them anyway. My Lekis are still going strong without 'em.

Straps can be a pain. I actually use Fizan poles now because they’re even lighter than Leki. The straps are easier to deal with, IMO, and no flick-lock

Never heard of Fizan, they look great though. How do they hold up for long hikes? Durability’s kind of a big deal for me.

I took them on a 5-day backpacking trip through the Rockies, no issues at all. Super compact too—fit right into my pack when I don’t need ‘em.

Y’all are out here talking about straps, but has anyone else had issues with the grips? Mine started peeling off after a couple of seasons.

On the grips, I actually switched to cork grips. Plus, cork doesn’t get as sweaty in the summer.

Grips are something I didn’t even think about upgrading. I’m starting to feel like maybe I’m just hanging onto these Lekis out of habit, .
