Need underwear recommendations for hiking to avoid discomfort

I’m seeking advice on what type of underwear to wear while hiking. I currently use standard Fruit of the Loom boxer briefs, but they tend to ride up, causing frequent discomfort and the need for adjustments. What do you all recommend

I recommend Smartwool boxer-briefs or a merino wool base layer for hiking.

I’ve had good experiences with ExOfficio and Duluth Armachillo. Both are very comfortable for active use.

I’m not familiar with ExOfficio, but I’ve considered Duluth. How is the fit regarding the pouch area

@Gray
The ExOfficio underwear are top-notch and very durable. I’ve been using mine for years and they’re still like new. I’d recommend checking their website or looking for deals at places like Costco.

@Ellery
Would I find them at REI

I’m not sure about REI’s current stock. It’s been a while since I purchased mine. Definitely start with their official website to see where they’re available.

@Ellery
Thanks a lot for the info!

@Gray
Armachillos don’t have a pouch, which I prefer for a smoother fit.

Great, that’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

I use polyester and spandex blend boxer briefs from Fruit of the Loom. They’re snug on the thighs and don’t ride up as much. Choosing a size down helps keep them in place.

I go for synthetic boxer briefs with a 5-6 inch inseam. New Balance, Puma, and Volcom are my go-to brands. They feel like they’re all made in the same factory, honestly.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I swear by SAXX Quest quick-dry mesh. They’re perfect not just for hiking but also for golf.

Smart wool or SAXX are my picks for hiking underwear.

I prefer long inseam synthetic boxer briefs, but they are hard to find, so I modify my Under Armour Heat Gear by cutting off some of the legs.

Under Armour has been reliable for me.

I’ve switched to compression shorts instead of boxers, and it’s made a huge difference. I’m also considering trying out new types of underwear but compression shorts have been a game-changer.

I was just thinking about compression shorts too. Thanks for confirming it’s a good choice!

SAXX Quest boxer briefs have been a game-changer for me. They’re thin, stretchy, breathable, quick-drying, and they have panels that keep everything in place without chafing. I also use them daily, not just for hiking.
