Need light jungle pants, women

I’m the always outdoors person that hates clothes. Looking for some VERY lightweight pants that are not skin tight but also not super baggy. I’d rather stay away from spending $150 on overpriced brand names for such a simple item but will pay for quality that lasts.

It’s hot, muggy, and I just need to keep the sumac from touching me.

Thanks for the suggestions!

For jungle hiking, consider wearing panty hoses to deter leeches, regardless of whether you’re a guy or gal.

Ooh, new trick- I hadn’t heard this before! Though, I will for sure pass out :joy:

Check out ExOfficio Nomad pants. I have a few pairs that I bought several years ago and they are the lightest and most comfortable hiking pants I have ever owned. They make them in men’s and women’s. Hopefully, ExO has not messed them up like they did with the men’s boxers.

@Ben
Those look very promising, thank you!

Worth the investment: Arc’teryx Gamma LT. Best breathability and moisture wicking and temperature control. Fallen through rocks and gotten them caked with mud and they are still resilient and dried fast enough for me to forget I stepped in it. I’ve got a more athletic build with a wider torso, small waist, and big thighs- a size 10 fit best

@Asa
You think they’d hold up walking through uncut brush with some thorns pretty well, and with frequent use?

Check out the Solognac series from Decathlon, specifically designed for jungle explorers. They use rip-stop fabric that protects you from leeches etc. and are very inexpensive too.

Thanks!!!

I have 2 pairs of Trail Sender pants from Mountain Hardware. They are thin and light. Not sure how their women’s pants are but they probably have a model with the same fabric. Try to go to a store that sells Mountain Hardware gear and check some pants. Still need something for the leeches though…

@Niko
Thanks for your suggestion, will check it out. No worries on the leech front, all I’m worried about is itching my legs off and Fur de Lances, which I’ve got rain boots and guards for.

We used to have a store here, I loved it!

The US army made the new IHWCU pants, Improved Hot Weather Combat Uniform pants…they’re thin and breathable. Quick dry and great for hot humid states like I am in Georgia. If you would like a cheap option…the Proper summer 2.0 pant is built the same. Even comes with ankle straps to keep out critters! :wink:
