My New Boots Feel Tight

Just picked up a pair of Lowa Renegade GTX Mid boots, and they’re snug around the heel and midfoot. Love the style, but the fit’s not working. Anyone know if Lowa has wider options or another brand I should try?

Try the Keen Targhee II Mid. They’re wider but still have great support. I switched from Lowa myself, and no more foot pain since.

I’ve actually heard good things about the Keen Targhees. How’s the ankle support? I’m doing more rocky terrain lately, so need something sturdy. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Ever think about trying a different sock combo first? Sometimes a thicker sock fixes those weird pressure spots. Worked for me with Salomons.

Lowa boots run a bit narrow, man maybe look into Merrell Moabs. They fit a bit wider, and they’re like wearing clouds—seriously comfy. My only complaint is that they wear out faster than I’d like.

Not a fan of Moabs, TBH. They were too soft for me. I hike rocky trails in La Sportiva Nucleo Highs. Amazing grip and they mold to your foot after a bit of wear.

Have you considered just stretching them out? Had the same issue with my Scarpa boots—took ‘em to a cobbler, and they stretched them to fit. Saved me from buying a new pair.

Salewa does make wider boots. Check out the Alp Trainer Mid GTX. I have wider feet too, and they’re perfect for me. Plus, they’ve got that same tough build you love in the Mountain Trainer.

Ah, good to know about the Alp Trainer. Didn’t realize they had a wider version. I’ll give those a look.
