Just wait til they swim upstream and spawn?

Lol. Sorry for the autocorrect not being checked before posting.

Not sure they’ll make it. The midsole is likely long gone. Easy picking for the grizzlies.

In nature, the salmon look pretty rough as they swim upstream. They stop eating when they hit freshwater and their bodies start to deteriorate as they prepare to spawn and then die. I’d say the salmon pictured here look just about right!
Yeah, man. That midsole’s been beat for about 4 years, and the tread is basically gone. Your feet will appreciate good shoes again.
I’ll never understand why people think shoes are good as long as there’s tread left. That’s not the only part of the shoe…
Looks like they have another thousand miles in them.
How do you still have tread? I get 300 to 400 miles and have no tread.

They don’t walk that much.
I resoled my Salomon shoes with a great boot Vibram sole, a bit heavier but since the shoes were extremely comfortable, I just broke them in. So it made sense to give them a rebuild. I’m an avid hiker, and these shoes are now one of my many hiking shoes’ favorite pairs.

Resoling was the norm until a few decades ago. Glad you did it. That is the core of an anti-consumeristic lifestyle.

Nah, I wish I could wear that badge, fact is I’m on the opposite side of that consumer ledger, I’m a sneaker head with hundreds of tennis shoes. As a hiker, I took my hiking shoe collection to a few dozen pairs as well. I just love these Salomon shoes. They’re well-worn in, comfy, and I tried looking for a new pair but not available. Thus the idea of resoling them.

The sole isn’t the only part of the shoe, nor is it the most important. A poor condition midsole can do some serious damage to your feet long term. As a runner, shoes definitely have a lifespan, and going beyond this lifespan can lead to serious injuries.
You have another five years in those for sure. Keep a pair of slippers handy, just in case.
Quitter!

Salmon or Salomon?
If the latter, how in TF did you make these last that long? I’m a big guy, and no Salomon pair of anything lasts me even a year, even with 2 days a week wear.

”I’m a big guy”
This is a factor with how long shoes last. More mass pushing down on the midsole and soles means faster wear. Sucks, but that’s the reality.
@Vale
Oh, I get it, I just have to surmise that the OP is not a real big guy.
Downloaded for asking a genuine question. Yep, this is Reddit.
But back to the original point I was trying to make with the original poster and perhaps engage in conversation…
By comparison, my 300lb-ish ass doesn’t wear out Salewa trail runners nearly as fast. Columbia fit poorly but still lasted a year and a half. Hell, Adidas lasted a bit longer and that’s not anything to brag about IME.
My point is, it’s a joke right? Salomon = durable? Seem to be the majority of the reviews online, especially with their hiking stuff.
Dude, my Solomons will not die. It’s pretty wild. Yours are a little rougher than mine. How’s the grip? Are they starting to get slippery?
