Multi day hiking boots

Hey folks, so basically just looking for my next all-around hiking boots! Any recommendations? So far I have been using Scarpa Zodiac Plus Gtx but their Vibram sole is already done. I was trying La Sportiva Aequilibrium on but they also have ‘Vibram’ issues and they are not entirely for winter unless thicker socks taken. Then I was trying Hoka Kava 2 Gtx, they look decent and nice and comfortable but a bit scared of the brand as Hoka is famed for trail running. Anyone has any recent discoveries or any recommendation that could come handy? I am doing multi-day hiking, I often do mountaineering so the shoe should also be able to go off-track and should be used as an approach shoe or should be able to do some low-level alpinism and scrambling.

Honestly, I’d suggest going to an all-leather B or C category boot at this point. The Zodiac Plus GTX is one of the best boots if you’re looking for a synthetic that’s light, but it does have soft rubber for the outsole, great for traction but not so great for durability.

I’d recommend the Scarpa Kinesis Pro GTX if Scarpa fits you well. Alternatively, the Asolo TPS 520 GV Evo.

If you still want a synthetic, go for the Asolo Fugitive GTX. It’s a solid boot, and its tread lasts a little longer than Scarpa’s tread, though at the cost of some traction. That’s just the way it’s going to be, though - testing traction for durability and vice-versa.

Also, like to add, that’s just me, though. If you’re looking for something that is basically perfect for off-trail and approach, the Zodiac Plus is really hard to beat. They can be resoled, so you may just stick with them.

Scarpa has always been the most comfortable shoe to me ever. La Sportiva always felt so narrow. I will try Kinesis Pro GTX on for sure. Thanks for the suggestion!

Sure thing. You’ll sacrifice a lot of flexibility by going with the Kinesis, but you’ll have a lot of lifespan out of the upper, plus more support. They’re good boots. :+1:

Can’t the Scarpas be resoled? Seems a shame to throw them out on their first sole.

Tbh, I wish they could be resoled but this service is currently available in the UK only and to only those shoes marked with the resole logo. These don’t have it and in my country the service is not available.

Tady jsem se dočetl, že to někdo poslal do Scarpy přes prodejce, tak třeba by to taky šlo. http://www.outdoorforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7446&start=180

Alternativně to vždycky můžeš poslat třetí straně např:

Určitě bych volil variantu opravy, než dávat 6-8k za nový, tak dát dvojku za opravu mi přijde lepší. A ještě ti zůstanou pěkně vyšlápnutý.
