Looking for baggy waterproof hiking trousers… any advice?

Hi everyone, I’m on the hunt for some loose-fitting, baggy hiking trousers but struggling to find any that are roomy enough. I prefer trousers that don’t taper at the bottom and have lots of space in the thigh area. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks a lot!

Not sure about your size specifically, but I really love my Fjallraven Vida Pros. They breathe well, and you can use Greenland wax on them to make them waterproof. The wax does wear off with time and washing, but it’s super easy to reapply.

They’re very spacious and have adjustable straps at the ankles, so you can tighten them once you have them on. No need for a sharp taper, which I think you’d like.

The wax wearing off is actually a benefit. It lets you switch between a breathable option for warm, dry conditions and waterproofing for wet weather. Perfect balance for any situation.

Completely agree! It’s definitely one of my favorite features.

You might want to check out MEC Hydrofoil pants. They’re solid for hiking.

Just remember, waterproof trousers will also trap sweat and condensation inside since they’re not very breathable.

I’d recommend army surplus trousers. They’re super durable and roomy. Can’t recommend them enough.
