Innovative Trekking Pole Mount for Action Cam

After experimenting unsuccessfully with backpack strap camera mounts on my hikes, I’ve potentially found a promising solution. I attached an Ulanzi Super Clamp with a 360-degree Ballhead to my trekking pole. This setup not only feels balanced but also allows the foam grip of the pole to remain fully accessible. An added advantage is that I can raise the pole for high-angle shots, similar to a DJI telescoping extension rod. Although I haven’t tested this setup on a long, varied terrain hike yet, I’m optimistic about its functionality. Just to clarify, I would use the camera on the trekking pole similarly to how one would use a 1.5m DJI extension pole, not while actively hiking with the pole.

Have you considered a head mount with stabilization? You can run a power bank cord inside your clothes for continuous power. It’s an efficient setup if you’re not concerned about the aesthetic aspect.

Appreciate the suggestion! I’ve considered it, but I like the flexibility of framing shots directly, which is why I’m leaning towards using the trekking pole like an extension pole. Still, I’m open to trying different setups depending on how this one performs in practical use.

I typically use a chest or head mount for more stability, especially when recording hikes. While a trekking pole mount might capture great static shots, the movement might be too much for dynamic hiking footage.

@Dax
Thanks for the input! I might consider those alternatives if my current setup doesn’t meet my needs during an upcoming hike on New Year’s Day.

Droid? Not sure what you mean, but I’m definitely looking for practical solutions over style!

Sorry, that was a joke! Sometimes my humor is a bit off.

@Tatum
Got it, no worries! I’m all ears for any serious suggestions though.
