How do I find breathable boots for wide and sweaty feet… Any advice

My budget is between 100 and 150 dollars and I have very wide feet. It’s hard to find boots that fit, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are there any boots that suit your needs? If breathability is your main concern, perhaps trail runners are the way to go.

I agree, trail runners seem like a solid choice for your situation.

No way. I need something more durable as I’m carrying 15-20 kg on a week-long trip.

If you can’t compromise on boots, you might have to deal with sweaty feet and wet boots. Try taking them off when you can to let your feet dry. From my experience, even light goretex shoes get very hot.

Many long-distance hikers on trails like the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trail wear trail runners or hybrids. For breathability, Altra Lone Peak or Hoka Anacapa Breeze Mid could be good options.

Finding boots without GTX is tough these days. You might want a leather lined or nylon lined boot for support and a synthetic for breathability. Mixing wide feet into this is tough. Perhaps consider GTX and go with something like Meindl Comfort Fit Hikers for wide feet. Keep extra socks handy and change them regularly.

I’ve switched to New Balance trail shoes due to sweat issues. The Hierro model is excellent, though it might stretch your budget. It’s worth considering, especially for the added comfort.

Consider non-waterproof trail runners for better breathability. They offer good foot comfort and manage moisture well, so much so that I no longer change shoes for water crossings. Check out brands like Topo, La Sportiva, and Altra for wide options.

Iontophoresis might help manage sweat.

Try wearing merino wool socks to help manage the sweat.

Have you considered switching to minimalist footwear or hiking sandals? They could be a solution.

Using antiperspirant spray on your feet might also help reduce sweat.

Definitely embrace trail runners. They work well even for week-long trips with light hiking socks.

I find that my Sorel boots stay drier than my trail runners. I still use trail runners more for hiking though.

Invest in good wool socks; they really help regulate foot temperature and sweat.
