Help Decide Between AC Lite 16 vs 22 Daypack

Hey guys, I’m torn between the Deuter AC Lite 16 and the AC Lite 22. I need a solid daypack, mainly for carrying snacks, water, small camera, and an extra layer (jacket/sweater). I don’t bring too much stuff hiking but I also like using it as my personal item for flights. Think the 22 is too big for that? The 16 might be too small though. What do you think?

AC Lite 22 is awesome but might be tight as a personal item on planes.

The 16 is perfect for day hikes. I wouldn’t overthink it—smaller is usually better for planes. I’m not sure if the 16 would fit a rain jacket and camera easily though.

I’ve got the 16 and carry a rain jacket, snacks, and water. Never tried with a camera though.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.

The 22 sounds better for all that, but it could end up squished under the seat. Depends on how you pack.

I love the extra space in AC Lite 22, but it’s tight for flights. Ever thought about compression straps?

Lol, I once tried stuffing the 22 under a budget airline seat… It turned into a squished taco. 16 might be safer.

Taco pack :joy: Yeah, leaning towards 16. The personal item thing is big for me since I travel a lot.

Sounds like you’re a 16 kinda guy. It’ll totally fit your stuff if you pack smart.

Really???.. I disagree, the 16 is a tight squeeze, especially if it’s a cold-weather hike. What if he needs a bulkier jacket?

But how often does it get that cold? Worst case, he straps the jacket to the outside, right?

Lol, true. But man, I’ve hiked in some freaky weather where my jacket was a lifesaver. Couldn’t risk it.
