Exploring Lesser-Known Hiking Shoe Brands: Are They Worth It?

Hello everyone, I’m not a hiker but I enjoy wearing hiking or trekking shoes for everyday activities. I’ve come across several brands like CMP, Tecnica, Bennon, Trezeta, Grisport, and Kayland, which are priced similarly to well-known brands like Merrell and Columbia. I’m looking for durable and comfortable options but I’m unsure about these lesser-known brands since I can’t find many reviews. Are these brands reliable and worth considering, or should I stick to the more familiar ones?

It’s important to recognize that many brands outsource production to countries with cheaper labor, which doesn’t always mean lower quality. The key is quality control, which can vary widely between brands. I suggest asking about these brands in local forums or contacting stores with knowledgeable staff who can offer insights. A good return policy is also crucial in case the shoes don’t meet your expectations.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, there are few specialty stores in my area, and local forums haven’t been helpful. It’s challenging to find reliable information on these brands.

If you’re considering these brands for non-hiking purposes, it’s less about the rugged features and more about comfort and durability. Check if these brands offer any guarantees or warranties, which can be a sign of their confidence in the product quality.

For everyday use, you might not need all the features of traditional hiking shoes. Brands like Adidas Terrex are very durable and might also suit your needs. They offer good support and durability without being specifically designed for hiking.

I prefer shoes that don’t have a mesh upper because they tend to rip at the toes. I’m looking for fully leather shoes which is why I was drawn to these lesser-known brands. They seem to offer what I need, but I’m hesitant without more user feedback.

When trying new brands, especially for shoes that you’ll wear often, it’s crucial to ensure they fit well right out of the box. Don’t compromise on comfort and fit, even if the brand isn’t well-known. Sometimes lesser-known brands can offer great value.
