I wear EU size 43 boots. Would size L fit well? I’m considering the Snowline Chainsen Pro for hiking on icy trails and I’m curious if there are better options in this category. Any recommendations or insights on whether there are much better ice cleats available?
It depends on how much you intend to use them, how far you’ll be from civilization, and on what kinds of slopes. For standard light-duty hiking, they should be fine. For more intense activities, consider Kahtoola Microspikes, Black Diamond Distance/Access Spike, or Hillsound Trail Crampon.

Why are these brands considered better for harder terrain? What are the differences?

Kahtoola and Black Diamond are very trusted brands. Hillsound cleats have larger spikes and a velcro strap for extra support, which makes them ideal for rougher terrain.

Hillsound spikes measure 1.7mm and Kahtoola’s are 9.5mm. I’ve read some reviews stating that the Snowline isn’t very durable. So, does Hillsound offer the best traction?

My Snowlines have lasted for years of heavy use and are still in good condition.
Snowline Chainsen Pro is a good choice and yes, size L should fit a EU 43, though it might be slightly loose depending on the shape of your shoe. They are suitable unless you’re ice climbing. There’s also the XT version with spikes on the tip, but I don’t find that necessary for most hiking scenarios.
Edit: Size M would definitely be too small.
