Broke My Toe, Doc Says I Need Hiking Boots

Hey y’all, I’m not really into hiking, but I do walk A LOT. Like 4-10 miles a day. Problem is, I broke my toe a few months ago, and the doc says I’m cleared to walk but recommended stiff hiking boots (B or C level) to keep my toe stable. Thing is… I don’t know hiking boots at all! I need something wide, with a big ol’ toe box, and under $200. Any suggestions for a non-hiker?

Probably go for the Merrell Moabs, not too pricey and hope it helps.

Try Oboz Sawtooth. Great for wide feet, solid toe box. Not so pricey as well…

Just go barefoot. :joy: Jk! But honestly, I’d recommend Salomon X Ultra. Solid, lightweight, and decent for wide feet too

Honestly, get Altra Lone Peaks. Huge toe box, super comfy. They’re my go-tos. Price is right too

Barefoot might work for a while… until I step on a rock and break the other toe. I’ll check the Salomon X Ultra, thanks.

Y’all are sleeping on KEEN Targhee. Wide as heck. Saved my toes more than once.

Altra Lone Peaks? Didn’t think they were stiff enough for what the doc recommended, though… or are they?

Dude, KEENs for sure, even for walking they’re a solid choice.

Yeah, I agree on KEENs. But Altras… nah, those are too soft for a toe injury, IMO.

Altras are a NO from me too. You need something stiffer for that toe.

Wait, wait… y’all really think Altras are too soft? I’ve been using them for everything from city walks to trails…

Yeah, I also think they’re comfortable but not stiff enough if you need to protect a toe injury.

So Altras might be comfy, but not stiff enough? Got it. Looks like KEENs might be the way to go. I’m leaning toward KEENs… anyone have issues with durability?

KEENs are solid. BUT, if you drag your feet (like me), the soles wear out faster. Just sayin’. :joy:
