Hey. so yeah, I’m kinda struggling here. Can’t seem to find any solid hiking boots or shoes that are wide enough for my monstrous feet. I’d really like to start doing some longer hikes, but the shoe part is killing the vibe. Anyone have suggestions? I wear like a US 12-13, 4E, and I don’t think flip-flops or Chacos will survive the Grand Tetons. Appreciate any advice…
New Balance 978s are solid for wide feet. Not flashy, but they are def wort it.
Why not check out KEEN Targhee II. Wide sizes, comfy, and lightweight. Perfect for different terrains.
Oh man, wide feet gang here , I’m using Hoka Speedgoats. Their cushioning is next-level. The Grand Tetons are a serious place to break in some boots, though Maybe test them out locally first?
Hoka sounds interesting. Did they take long to break in?
Nope, pretty much good to go right away. Super soft, but some find them too cushy for rocky trails.
Have you like ever considered going custom? I know it’s pricier, but there are places that do custom-fit boots, especially for folks with, um, unique foot shapes like ours. Lathrop & Sons do a solid job, I hear.
Not sure how you feel about trail runners, but Brooks Cascadia comes in wide sizes and might be worth a shot.
How do trail runners handle rocky terrain?
They’re awesome on smooth trails but for rocky or wet terrain I think you might want more support.
