Best Budget Sleeping Bag

Hey everyone, I’m searching for a budget-friendly sleeping bag that packs down well for backpacking trips. Any recommendations? I’ve been considering the Kelty Cosmic 20, but I’m unsure about its packability. I’m hoping to find something no larger than a shampoo bottle. :flushed:

You can choose cheap, warm, or compact—pick two.

Where will you sleep? What season and temperatures are you expecting?

Also, what do you consider ‘budget-friendly’? And just a heads up, nothing rated below 40 degrees is likely to pack as small as you’re hoping.

@Yan
I’m aiming for all three, but cheap and compact are my top priorities. I’ll be in Emigrant Wilderness during spring and summer, so I’m not too worried about the cold. I had a Walmart sleeping bag that worked fine but was too bulky and heavy. I consider budget-friendly to be under $200. I also need to get the same bag for my girlfriend for our upcoming trips. My backpack is a Granite Gear Blaze 60.

@Tatum
Check out the Marmot Trestle Eco.

Down bags pack smaller, but they cost more. Expect around an 8x16" packed size, maybe slightly smaller but not much for that price.

The North Face Trail Lite might be another option. I have the Trail Lite, and it packs down pretty small (maybe 7x14?). On sale, it should be under $200—just keep it dry!

@Yan
Nice! I’ll definitely check those out today. Thanks! :pray:

$200

Try the MT900 down sleeping bag from Decathlon. It’s down, so keep it dry.

They’re on sale now for $100! I just bought the last two, lol. I’ve read nothing but good reviews about this sleeping bag everywhere I check. Plus, at $100 and it packs down small, it’s exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks for the info!
