Best budget hiking pants: $13 at Costco!

These have been my go-to hiking pants for a couple of years now. They’re an incredible deal at Costco—just $13! Make sure to size down; I’m usually a 34 waist, but the 32 fits perfectly.

I love Orvis! Big fan here.

Me too, but keep in mind that Costco’s Orvis products are a step down in quality from what you’d find in Orvis stores. Still good, but not top-tier.

I used to wear $100 Prana hiking pants but switched to these after shredding them in Arizona’s underbrush. At this price, I don’t mind if they tear—I just replace them.

Isn’t Orvis usually expensive? I’m surprised to see it at Costco.

What’s sold at Costco isn’t the same as what you’d find in Orvis catalogs.

Costco carries brands like Orvis, Eddie Bauer, and Banana Republic. Sometimes the quality is “outlet level,” but other times it’s identical to what you’d find in stores.

I’ve seen Eddie Bauer at Costco too—always wondered how they end up there.

I’ve got the Eddie Bauer lined pants for cold weather—they’re fantastic.

Same here! My first pair lasted years before ripping. Just got a new pair, and they’re just as good. Plus, EB always seems to be “on sale.”

Agreed. I’ll definitely buy more.

I’m a Gerry fan myself, but on my long hikes, my trail name always ends up being “Kirkland” or “Costco.”

These pants and their shorts are awesome. They fit well, breathe nicely, and have plenty of pockets.

I have a small farm and a landscaping business. I wear these pants over 300 days a year! They’ve lasted two years and handle the humid Southeast weather well. Highly recommend, but size down—they have a stretchy waist.

These are probably the second most comfortable hiking pants I’ve worn in recent years.

I’m more of a Sam’s Club guy myself.

These pants scream “divorced dad.”
