Best Backpacking Tent Recommendations for a Solo Adventure

Hey everyone, I’m planning my first solo backpacking trip and need some advice on a good tent. I’ve been looking at the REI Co-op Half Dome 2+ and the MSR Hubba Hubba NX. Which one would be better for a solo camper? I’m mainly concerned about weight, durability, and ease of set-up.

I’ve owned both the Half Dome 2+ and the Hubba Hubba NX and can tell you that both are great options for solo backpacking. The Half Dome is a bit heavier but offers more interior space and is easier to set up. The Hubba Hubba is lighter and more compact but can be a bit trickier to pitch, especially in windy conditions. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your priorities.

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, I’d recommend checking out the Kelty Salida 2 below. It’s a great value for the price and offers decent features for a solo camper. It’s not as lightweight as some of the other options on the market, but it’s still a solid choice.

Half Dome 2+ Looks Great. I think this is the best one.

You might want to consider the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2. It’s one of the lightest tents on the market and offers excellent durability. However, it can be quite expensive.
