Anyone out there tried the Topo trail hiker shoes? Been eyeing them for my next trail run but not sure how they hold up.
They’re super comfy, especially with that wide toe box. My only gripe is they didn’t seem super grippy on wet rocks. But maybe I was just unlucky that day.
I actually prefer Altra Lone Peaks over the Topos. Better grip and more cushion. If you’re doing a mix of terrain, they might be worth checking out.
Does the extra cushion make them feel bulky at all, though?
The Altras have cushion but that doesn’t make them bulky.
Nah, they don’t feel bulky to me at all—just kinda snug in the right way. Plus, they dry super quick, which is a win for wet trails.
Any of y’all had issues with shoes losing grip after a few months? I swear, every trail shoe I buy feels great at first, then the sole’s like “nah, we’re done” after a couple hikes. Maybe I’m cursed, lol.
I haven’t noticed that yet with Topo. I’m like 6 months in, and they’re still solid. Could just be the terrain you’re hitting, though?
Glad to hear the Topos hold up for a while, But do they loose the grip too fast, especially if I’m hitting rocky or mixed trails.
If you’re worried about long-term grip, you could always try La Sportiva’s Bushido II. They’re kinda a tank of a shoe, but they grip EVERYTHING. I’ve got about 500 miles on mine, and they’re still solid.
La Sportiva. Bushido IIs are like the trail version of an all-terrain vehicle. You can probably scale a wall with them.
